Why we use Chroma key

Chroma keying is a technique used for layering two images together. A specific colour in the top layer is made transparent so that you can see the bits of the image behind the first one. This technique is mostly used in video-production and post-production. This is mainly used for weather forecasts broadcasts. In the forecasts it shows a news presenter standing in front of a large map with sometimes moving pictures e.g rain, snow, sunshine etc.
Green-screening and Blue screening are widely used in special effects in movies.
